Treatment Implementation Collaborative is 13 years strong this month, and goodness, what a ride it has been!

TIC was born from a strong desire to continue doing what we love to do, to continue the mission that we all signed up to support, and to live the life we wanted to live.  Like all life worth living goals, it took dedication, passion, a lot of sweat and even more laughter.

We have rolled up our sleeves, taken on new challenges and addressed whatever came our way with a steadfast commitment to disseminating evidence-based practices across the continuum of care.  Some days we feel the crushing need when it comes to supporting organizations and clinicians on the front line of service, and some days we feel the wins – increased rates for EPB’s (especially DBT) in a number of states, increased awareness of the need to support clinicians with a DBT type consultation team meeting, or greater systemwide awareness of how programs inadvertently reinforce crisis behaviors.  As we continue to move further away from the voice of Marsha Linehan, we often discuss what is expected evolution in the treatment versus drift with clinicians who never saw her brilliance firsthand.  Marsha set out to improve the quality of mental health services in every context and we are diligently committed to furthering that mission.

In our first discussions regarding what TIC would be, we all agreed that we didn’t want to be “the best in the world”, we wanted to be “the best for the world”.  That sentiment has guided so many of our goals, plans and decisions.  We feel honored to have had the opportunity to touch you in some way and hope that you continue to walk with us as we persist doing what we love, furthering the mission, and living lives that bring us joy.   Thank you for the opportunity to learn from you, to support you, and to grow with you.  Being the best for the world is so much bigger than we could ever do alone.

To honor our first 13 years, we are offering 13 full scholarships (no tuition) to our Jump Start in DBT that runs October 7-11 and 21-25, 2024. If you are interested, please complete this application by June 30, 2024. We will send notifications before August.

With Gratitude, Shari, Helen and Cindy

DBT Implementation in a State Hospital

“I was particularly impressed with the efforts of TIC to fully understand our institution, to create an implementation that ensures that we provide DBT in a valid and reliable way, but also takes into account the special circumstances and issues that are particular to our state hospital. TIC provides a unique and effective approach to training staff in DBT. Reviews from staff who attended the trainings were amongst the highest I have seen. My assessment of TIC is that they provided probably the best training and consultation service I have ever encountered. By every measure, they surpassed my greatest expectations. My greatest appreciation for TIC is for the impact they have had on our patients… we had tried to implement DBT for several years, but was able to do so effectively only after engaging the services of TIC. Individuals who constantly engaged in life threatening behaviors, are now earning discharges and increasing hope. Those who tried to kill themselves are now living safer and more productive lives.”
